This collection houses Antonio Bustamante's notes from Antioch Law School and files regarding the Hanigan case (in which George, Thomas, and Patrick Hanigan were tried for torturing undocumented immigrants Manuel García Loya, Eleazar Ruelas Zavala, and Bernabe Herrera).
This three-part program traces Chicano heritage and influence in Arizona's history between the 1600s and the 1950s. It begins with a consideration of Mexican immigrants' role in pioneering Arizona's first non-Indigenous settlements, discusses these settlers' conflicts with Indigenous peoples and Anglo settlers, recounts Mexican-American contributions to Arizona's economic growth, chronicles rising racism towards, discrimination against, and segregation of Mexican-Americans, and finally studies Mexican-American work to secure equal rights.
The Christine Marin Papers document the work of the Chicano/a Research Collection’s founding curator. The collection includes correspondence, agendas, reports, audio/visual items, and other materials showing such subjects as the development of the Chicano/a Research Collection, the Chicano/Latino Faculty and Staff Association, the Minority Women Integration Project, the Council of Hispanic Women, Arizona State University governance, cultural diversity and affirmative action work, and labor history.
This collection houses images documenting Graciela Olivarez's life and work between 1951 and 1982. The majority of these photographs depict Olivarez attending events, presenting or receiving awards, and giving speeches. Other images show Olivarez at KIFN radio and at Channel 48 KPHO-TV, on the Notre Dame campus, receiving an honorary degree from Notre Dame, and with family and friends. Also included are images showing various television and radio performers.
These silent color films depict a variety of scenes in Guadalupe, Arizona, including a church being renovated, street scenes, and city residents. Guadalupe was incorporated in 1975.
Developed in cooperation with the Southwest Council of La Raza in 1969, this four-part curriculum set was used by teachers to educate students about Mexican American history. Each set contains vinyl records, rolls of filmstrips, and teacher manuals with lesson plans and bibliographies. Only Parts I and IV have been digitized.
This collection houses official documents, correspondence, photographs, family trees, and other materials documenting the Ocampo and Quesada families in addition to minutes and other materials showing museum Boards of Directors, South Mountain, and the Sociedad Historical Hispania of Wickenburg.
This collection houses photographs depicting Joaquim and Rebecca (Muñoz) Gutierrez and their families, including numerous relatives, the Muñoz family's time in Texas, Rebecca Muñoz and Joaquim Gutierrez's wedding and honeymoon, Mexican-American Movement conferences held in the early 1940s, and Rosalio, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Lucinda, and Josephine Muñoz's time at Arizona State Teachers College, now known as Arizona State University (ASU).
The Roberto Reveles Papers contain correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, organizational records, subject files, and other items documenting Reveles' career as a congressional staffer for five congressmen in Arizona, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. between 1956 and 1980. His work as an advocate for civil rights and immigration reform in the Mexican and Mexican-American communities is also shown.
This collection houses snapshots and commercial portraits showing the Ocampo, Quesada, Ortega, and Valencia families between 1860 and 1989. Many of these images document graduations, weddings, military service, and ranching and most were made in the vicinity of Wickenburg. The majority of the photographs are silver gelatin prints; dye-coupler prints are also included.
