University Archives Audio and Visual Materials


The University Archives Audio and Visual Materials consist of archival photographs, audio recordings, motion pictures and video productions selected from the University Archives Collections. Media is added as permissions are secured, and resources for digitization become available.

Steve Allen narrates this solicitation for support of the Arizona State University Alumni Association ca. 1965. Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and Sun Devil Marching Band music, the ASU College Bowl team, the announcement of Miss America Vonda Kay Van Dyke, Spanish professor Irma Wilson, and President G. Homer Durham and the ASU Concert Choir are featured.

Historic music from the Sun Devil Band. Tracks 1-3 feature Harold Hines, conductor 1952-1965. Tracks 4-6 feature Felix McKernan, conductor 1946-1951.

Historic images of Sparky the Sun Devil in historic costumes and designs for proposed replacements of the "Sun Imp" with the "Viking Sparky" UPC 324 photos depict Dick Jacobs as the first performing Sun Devil 1951-1953 along with the Sparkettes Joy Main, Peggy Holiday and Peggy Sparkman.

Photos selected from the University Archives Photograph Collection.

A vinyl audio recording included with the 1952 Arizona State College yearbook entitled The Sahuaro. The audio presents a variety of campus sounds including very brief statements from student and faculty leaders of the college.
