This comprehensive library of photovoltaic functions (PVSimLib) is an attempt to help the photovoltaics community to solve one of its long-lasting problems, the lack of a simple, flexible and comprehensive tool that can be used for photovoltaic calculations. The library contains a collection of useful functions and detailed examples that will show the user how to take advantage of the resources present in this library. The results will show how in combination with other Python libraries (Matplotlib), this library becomes a powerful tool for anyone involved in solar power. Power flow calculation plays a significant role in power system studies and operation. To ensure the reliable prediction of system states during planning studies and in the operating environment, a reliable power flow algorithm is desired. However, the traditional power flow methods (such as the Gauss Seidel method and the Newton-Raphson method) are not guaranteed to obtain a converged solution when the system is heavily loaded. This thesis describes a novel non-iterative holomorphic embedding (HE) method to solve the power flow problem that eliminates the convergence issues and the uncertainty of the existence of the solution. Fiber-Wireless (FiWi) network is the future network configuration that uses optical fiber as backbone transmission media and enables wireless network for the end user. Our study focuses on the Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) algorithm for EPON upstream transmission. DBA, if designed properly, can dramatically improve the packet transmission delay and overall bandwidth utilization. With new DBA components coming out in research, a comprehensive study of DBA is conducted in this thesis, adding in Double Phase Polling coupled with novel Limited with Share credits Excess distribution method. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new method of dividing wireless communication (such as the 802.11a/b/g/n and cellular UMTS MAC protocols) across multiple unreliable communication links (such as Ethernet).
