The Ernest M. Clayton Photographs consist of 40 (3 inch x 4 inch) glass plate negatives showing the construction of buildings at the Inspiration Mill, the International Smelter, and the Miami Power Plant in Miami, Arizona. The images were made by Clayton, an electrician who worked on these construction projects, between 1902 and 1915. This collection reconstructs the thirty years of Father Augustine’s service to his Church through his photographs. It contains 163 photographs taken between 1916 and 1940 documenting Franciscan chapels, missions and religious activities at numerous American Indian villages in Arizona.
